Your free Claude limit reset expires October 22
When Opus 5.5 launched, Anthropic gave Pro, Max and Team subscribers one free limit reset to save and use whenever they liked. That window closes on October 22. If you haven't used yours, here's where it is and when it's worth spending.
I built Usage for Claude so you can see how much limit you have left before you spend a reset →
What you got
On September 22, alongside Claude Opus 5.5, Anthropic raised five-hour usage limits and gave subscribers a rate limit reset they could bank and use at a time they choose.
One more thing: we’re increasing five-hour usage limits on Pro, Max, and Team plans. We’re also providing subscription users a rate limit reset, which you can save and use whenever you choose.

Anthropic's developer account gave the deadline the same day:
If you're on Pro, Max, or Team, your reset is available today in Settings → Usage. Apply it any time until Oct 22.

Opus 5.5 is the default for paid plans. It's priced lower than Opus 5, so your 5-hour and weekly limits go 25% further.
Who has one
Subscribers on Pro, Max and Team plans, according to @ClaudeDevs. Anthropic's help article adds that if you downgrade or cancel before using a reset, it's no longer available. Anthropic hasn't said whether seat-based Enterprise plans got one.
How to use it
- Open Settings → Usage on claude.ai or in the Claude desktop app.
- Find the Resets section and check the expiry shown on the offer. Anthropic's post says October 22; the help article says an unused reset expires on the day and time listed on the offer, so go by the time it shows you.
- Click “Reset for free” and confirm. The same button also appears on the message you see when you reach a limit.
You can't apply it from the Claude mobile app or from Claude Code in your terminal or IDE. Because your limits are shared across your account, the reset still counts there once you apply it on the web or desktop (source).
When it's worth spending
You don't have to hit a limit before you use it. But a reset is worth the most when you've already used up most of what you have, so if you still have plenty left, spending it now mostly throws it away. If you're close to your limit and still have work to do before October 22, that's the moment.
Usage for Claude shows your session and weekly limits side by side in the menu bar, on your iPhone and on your Apple Watch, so you can see how much you'd actually gain before you click. After you apply the reset, the bars drop back down on the next refresh.
